Geotia Demonetiquette

I do not claim to have any answer to this practice. It is paradoxical and strange why the Goetia works. What I can say, with authority, is that it does work very well.

The question that is always asked, and remains unresolved, is... is the force used, an internal one or an external one? For instance, do the demons really belong 'out there' with a seperate reality or are they just in our heads?

At this point I could interject some quantum theory and talk about a user defined universe, &c. But this would only serve to cloud the issue.

Let me put it this way. I do a rite to get a new car. I get the new car! Should I then be concerned with whether I did this or a demon really exists somewhere and did this for me. The only thing I can say is that the demons of the Goetia begin to get obstreperous if you start to think of them as not having seperate reality. Maybe we cause them to come into being or awake them from some kind of 'demonic sleep.' Whatever the case, you will find that they act, in every way, as if they have their own seperate reality.

So how should we act when first faced with a demon? The way that you act on your very first experience will define the rest of your career as a Goetian Occultist. Your first reaction might be, to be horrified. This is what the demon is hoping for. If he can terrify you into submission he will not have to do what you want him to (demons hate being ordered by human-kind.) So the first thing you must do is stealyourself against the shock of seeing your first demon. Next, you must recieve him courteously, welcome him and thank him for coming. Think about it, before the fall he was one of god's chosen angels, and as such he deserves your respect. Be very carefull though that respect does not turn into grovelling or any kind of sycophantic display. You should keep the upper hand at all times.

So how will the demon appear? Well, if you are lucky he will appear as a hallucination or as if in a dream. Sometimes you cannot see the demon at all, you simply feel his presence and sort of see him in your minds eye. Do not be worried by this, the kind of state that you would have to be in to see him clearly, is not a natural one. You will have occasions when you do see lucidly but even these tend to be put down to hallucination, after the fact. The human mind has a hard time coming to terms with occult phenomena. If you do not see the demon, first hand, so to speak, you must be even more on your guard. The tendency is to talk in a kind of telepathic communication, his thoughts then get mingled with yours to a point where you have bartered yourself down from a new car to a second hand bicycle. This is why I urge you to write out your demands prior to the rite, and the time scale, and stick to them!

One final word before I close this bit. As I have just said, the human mind has a hard time accepting occult phenomena, and an even harder time believing in it. One of the traps that beginners fall into, is to believe that, even if they do conjure a demon succesfully, the kind of results that they could ask for are limited to things within their personal control. To this I must cry (very loudly) trash!! I have achieved the most wonderful things and in such a coincidental way as to defy belief. The demons are quite capable of doing everything that the scripts say they will, and more! How you want to label such phenomena is entirely up to you. Is invisibility a kind of mass-hypnosis? Is the finding of buried treasure simply the retreval of data from the collective unconscious? Or is it all brought about by demons who have a seperate but just as real existance?
