The whole point of this is to create a kind of pictogram which is to represent the demon you wish to summon. You can find historical sigils in old grimoires, these ones can be found in the Book of Black Magick by A.E.Waite, but this system is MUCH MORE POWERFUL! With this system you can also create your own demons. Then YOU would decide what powers they would have &c.
So here is the complete method of sigilisation as told to me by a sorceror...
Firstly write down the name of the Demon that you wish to conjure. For instance, if it is IPOS you would write down these four letters I - P - O - S. Now take each of the letters in turn and arrange them on the page in a kind of doodle so that they are somewhat connected but not in a written sense. For example ...
Notice how the P has been included by the position of the O at the top of the I. Now by squinting the eyes you can create a simpler shape, like so...
This step of squinting the eyes and creating a simpler shape can be repeated until the shape is so simple that it can be
retained in the minds eye quite simply. There are a few rules that you should follow when creating Demonic Sigils though.
i) Do all doodling &c. on a CLEAN NEW piece of paper and consecrate it first (see below).
ii) Don't carry sigils around with you before hand. Do them as required and just prior to using them. Experience will show you why.
iii) When creating sigils for names with repeated letters like
AMAYMON you can see that we could cheat, and draw one M over the top of another or one A over another, so we can simplify things by removing repeating letters. So AMAYMON would become AMYON, (although he would still be called AMAYMON.)
iv) Do the final sigil on a small square of consecrated paper, this will be the one you use to conjure the demon, burn all the rest. v) Write the name of the demon on the back side of the sigil.
vi) The finished sigil should NOT be representative of it's intention, nor should you be able to readily see the component letters
To consecrate the paper PRIOR to drawing, draw a pentagram
in the air over it with your forefinger, starting from the right - bottom and say the words, "I consecrate you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, that you retain
no influence, save that, which I give you. So mote it be."
Note that the sigil will apply to the demon to which YOU BELIEVE it to apply, even though it does not retain pictorial
characteristics. And this demon will have all the powers ascribed to him and others which you must discover for yourself.
As I said above, it is possible for you to make up your own
demons using this method but be aware that this series of 72 have been very carefully worked out to fit into a model of the human psyche. Don't confuse those that you create with these ones. Yours may be more powerful, scary, generous, or
whatever but they don't belong to the demons of the Solomonic tradition. The Goetia, strictly speaking, has only 72, and this for very good reasons.
